Shekinah Lodge was chartered in 1886 and originally was Riverdale Lodge and later renamed Marbledale Lodge. The Lodge bought a small plot of land at 4928 Strawberry Plains Pike Knoxville, TN 37914 in 1953 where the old Ramsey School was located and built its current building in 1956. Marbledale Lodge was finally renamed Shekinah Lodge.
This plaque placed on the building lists the officers and committee members who commissioned the building.
The word Shekinah comes from a hebrew noun meaning "dwelling" or "settling" and denotes the dwelling or settling of the divine presence of a supreme being and his universal glory.
